BKC Capital Inc. Portfolio Manager
BKC Capital Inc. manages the Canadian Real Estate Plus fund.
Michel is the portfolio manager for the Canadian Real Estate Plus fund and an advising representative of BKC Capital Inc. He also serves as Assistant Portfolio Manager of the Prime Canadian Property Fund, taking a lead role in portfolio strategy and analytics, investor and consultant relations, and business development. Michel is also the lead portfolio manager for a diversified separate account on behalf a Canadian pension plan.
Michel has progressed through roles of increasing responsibility in acquisitions, research, asset management and portfolio management since joining Bentall Kennedy as an Investment Analyst in 2000. Prior to Bentall Kennedy, he gained real estate investment experience at Colliers International and Morguard Investments Ltd. Michel earned a Bachelor of Commerce and Business Administration degree, specializing in real estate, at the University of British Columbia and is a CFA Charter holder.
Bentall Kennedy Portfolio Management Team
The Bentall Kennedy portfolio management team manages the pool of real estate assets in which the Canadian Real Estate Plus fund invests.
Malcolm Leitch is Chief Operating Officer, Investment Management at Bentall Kennedy in Canada, with responsibility for overall portfolio strategy, as well as performance of all Canadian Core pooled funds and most separate accounts. In addition, he is responsible for promoting Bentall Kennedy to Canadian institutional investors, liaising with existing investors and raising new equity. Since joining Bentall Kennedy, he has led the company in raising more than $8 billion of equity from Canadian pension funds for real estate investment.
Malcolm joined Bentall Kennedy in 1987. A Chartered Accountant, he previously worked for eight years with Coopers & Lybrand at its Vancouver and London, England offices.
Malcolm holds a degree in commerce and business administration (Dean's Honour List) from the University of British Columbia. After retiring from coaching his son's hockey team and daughter's baseball team, he has served on a number of "for-profit" and "not-for-profit" boards and recently became Chair of the Board of Directors of the Looking Glass Foundation which supports those impacted by eating disorders.
John McFadden is an Executive Vice President and Portfolio Manager at Bentall Kennedy with responsibility for investment management, specifically within the Canadian Core Accounts group, where he is primarily responsible for client relations and asset management activities in Central and Eastern Canada.
Prior to joining Bentall in 2002, John worked as Executive Vice President at Beutel Goodman Real Estate Group where, for over 14 years, he played a primary role in business development, acquisitions and asset management. Before joining Beutel Goodman, he also was in various leasing, property management and asset management roles with Aetna Canada and Morguard Investments.
John holds an Honours degree in Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.
